You can remain for the length of your study course if you have a student visa. You have to be enrolled in a full-time course at an accredited school.

Skilled Visa

High-skilled people who wish to immigrate to Australia fall under this visa category. This type of visa is point tested. The following are the steps in a general skilled migration:

Lodge and get a positive skills assessment from the relevant body of your nominated occupation
Submit your Expression of interest (EOI) through skills select.
