Professional Year Program – Engineering
Engineering Education Australia (EEA) created the Professional Year in Engineering and administers the professional component. The program grants access to the Engineers Australia learning platform and membership in Engineers Australia.
This course was created in order to address Australia’s shortage of trained professionals and boost the number of overseas students who can find employment by expanding their knowledge and skill set and offering them the chance to participate in field training.
The course lasts 44 weeks, with 12 weeks of internship and 32 weeks of coursework.
The ability to earn five (5) more points on the Department of Immigration and Border Protection’s (DIBP) “points test” while applying for a Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa is one of the main advantages of finishing a Professional Year Program.

Due to their inclusion on the Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL) and the Skilled Occupations List (SOL), engineering professions are in great demand. Civil engineers, materials engineers, mechanical engineers, plant engineers, electrical engineers, and telecommunications engineers are a few of the occupations.
